kay wusuIt appears that Metro TV has turned down the music video for newcomer, Kay Wusu’s single, ‘Asore’. Sources say the TV station refused to play it because it may offend sensibility. The song talks about forming a new church, with lyrics in Twi that lends itself to all sorts of interpretations if one puts his/her mid to it. But if you look at Kay Wusu’s history in ‘the church’, then the words and visuals in the video suggests he knows the ins and outs of the church well enough to start his own.

Anthony Kofi Owusu who’s stage name is Kay Wusu is an Afrocentric Highlife artist. He was born on the 5th of January 1979 to Mr.  Richard Yeboah and Madam Olivia. Kay Wusu started singing at the age of eight in church. Kay Wusu was part of his school choir where was the lead singer. Under his leadership the choir emerged best choir in the district.

Aiming to become a successful singer he did not take his education lightly. He  continued the pursuit of his dream of becoming a medical doctor by climbing the educational ladder and so gained admission into one of the renowned senior high schools in Ghana; Accra Academy. Having music as his first love, he quickly jumped back to the music trail and begun his professional singing career.

For years Kay Wusu remained an  underground musician until he was discovered by his current record label  Maddhaus Entertainment headed by Mr Livingston Aik Abani. As a concerned CEO, Mr Abani makes it his business to develop the personalities of his artists and that is exactly what he has done with Kay Wusu.

Under the Maddhaus Entertainment label, Kay Wusu developed his uniqueness and his music genre (Afrocentric Highlife). This uniqueness synchronized with the personality of Kay Wusu. He is very opinionated  and this makes his peers think he is rather controversial. Kay Wusu has a Pan-African spirit which influences his person and his genre of music. He tries to communicate and uplift the African culture and values. His dream is to promote the Pan-African spirit to the youth through his music.

Under the management of Maddhaus Entertainment,  Kay Wusu is making waves with a controversial single titled  “Asore”, recently  released from his first 10 track album. This album has several great tracks out of which his next single “Mo Nnwe“ ” has been selected for release.

Aside being in the studios,  Kay Wusu loves to play football and is a staunch Asante Kotoko fan. He loves to eat fufu with light soup, but tuo zaafi will do in the absence of fufu.
