C-Real and Empi Baryeh to make guest appearance at ALEWA, May 12

crealThey say a word to the wise is enough but here is an exception- witty words woven on the Alewa platform rather literally augment appetite. Poetry/spoken word lovers all over Ghana and beyond have kept one question on their tongues, “When is Alewa coming back?” Twisted in a way like Oliver, Ghana’s favourite poetry show, Alewa returns wrapped with sizzling performances that will shoot you through the roof and make you beg for more. The first Alewa left an audience in awe for months; From D.K.Osei Yaw’s djembe magic to Selikem’s libation with poured-out words, Rhymesonny’s ‘poelitical’ redress, Poetra’s plate of palatable poetry, Kwame Write and friends in a sizzling drama act fused with poetry, Yom’s yummy bard experience, Alba Sumprim’s book-reading to poet of the day; Mariska’s marvelous sway with words. The whole package was top-notch. Then there was the second, Alewa Reloaded, which swept people off their feet with brooms of creativity. Featuring were author of the day Nana Awere Damoah, Mutombo da poet bearing a photo of sentences, Ms. Ndabi, Chief Moomen and more. Now the long wait is over! Art Lovers, Entertainers and Wordsmiths will be in Action again this May 12th at Sytris Bookshop and Cafe, Osu Oxford Street between 17:30 and 20:30 GMT for a show that promises to keep an audience with fingers crossed and mouth agape the whole time. Dubbed, Alewa for peace, this edition seeks to highlight on the need for another peaceful presidential election this year. Expect the best Ghana has to offer in the poetry/spoken word industry on stage again with tongues multicolored by Alewa!! Highlighting the event is a wordsmith known to have once used his mother’s umbilical cord as a microphone; known to most as a rapper, will break it down spoken-word style. I talk of no other than the realest emcee, C-real. Also, author of the day, an acclaimed writer Empi Baryeh whose books focus on heart-warming multicultural romance with enough passion to enthrall readers who want a little sizzle with their romance. She lives here in Accra which provides the exotic setting for most of her novels. She is currently the Assistant registrar of the University of Ghana, Legon. ALEWA , the rebirth of spoken word in Ghana]]>
