BET Awards snubs Africa again!

Wizkid and Sarkodie BET Awards snubs Africa again! The BET Awards again snubbed the Best International Acts category by presenting the awards to winners offstage.  It still remains a mystery to most African music enthusiasts why BET refuses to acknowledge the international acts on stage, with many sharing their disgust on social networks.

Certainly, if these artists travel miles across the globe to attend the event, BET could at least give them 30 seconds to receive their spotlight. For a network meant for Black Entertainment, it makes no sense for artists like Justin Beiber to shine at BET Awards while original African acts get quarantined as if they were some disease. Yes we saw the international acts (Africa and UK) on the red carpet, media center etc and that is some exposure in the US for them. But BET should seriously consider fully recognizing these artists at the awards.

I totally agree. I don’t think it’s fair for them to travel across the globe, if they were going to receive their award backstage. they might as well have mailed it to them.

sad to say…. but that’s whatz going on around here. I went to their gifting suites and it was kind of depressing. they didn’t have any goodies in their gift bags.

I just don’t get them, what will it change if they get to receive the awards on stage? our artist here are equally good so they should be treated better. Black entertainment really has not really recognized Africans. they just confirmed that…

This is sad. Very sad! I waited this long to chip in my comments on this issue to point out how I’m still hurting several weeks after. African acts remain in the backseat at global events. And this isn’t their making! By the way, did you guys even watch Samuel L. Jackson’s bland emcee-ing at the event? Kevin Hart should have even reprised the role this year! #JustSaying
